General Questions

About Uncharted America

Uncharted America offers small-group and private adventure tours throughout the American Southwest, including the Grand Canyon, Hoover Dam, Route 66, Antelope Canyon, Horseshoe Bend, Death Valley, Zion, Bryce Canyon, and other iconic destinations.

Our tours are designed for travelers who want more than a standard bus tour. We focus on smaller groups, knowledgeable guides, thoughtful itineraries, and more time exploring the places you came to see.

Most of our tours depart from the Las Vegas area, with pickup available from select hotels on or near the Las Vegas Strip. Exact pickup details will be confirmed before your tour.

For private tours, custom pickup locations may be available depending on the itinerary.

Our tours are built around a more personal, flexible, and immersive experience. Instead of large bus groups and rushed stops, we focus on small-group travel, experienced guides, scenic routes, and meaningful time at each destination.

Many of our tours are designed to give guests more time in the parks and at major viewpoints, while still including memorable stops along the way such as Route 66, Hoover Dam, desert landscapes, and historic towns.

Most of our small-group tours are capped at approximately 12 guests. This allows for a more comfortable experience, easier communication with your guide, and a more flexible day than a traditional large-group tour.

Private tours are reserved exclusively for your group.

Yes. Private tours are available for travelers who want a fully customized experience, a more flexible schedule, or a tour reserved just for their family, group, or organization.

Private tours can often be customized based on your preferred destinations, travel pace, hiking interest, photography stops, and available time.

Yes, many of our tours are family-friendly. Some destinations involve long drive times, early departures, desert weather, or walking near canyon viewpoints, so we recommend reviewing the tour details carefully before booking with young children.

If you are unsure whether a specific tour is the right fit for your family, please contact us and we can help recommend the best option.

Many of our tours are suitable for seniors, especially guests who are comfortable with longer travel days and light walking. Some locations may include uneven terrain, stairs, elevation changes, or hot/cold weather depending on the season.

Private tours are a great option for guests who prefer a slower pace or more flexibility.

Booking & Availability

Planning and reserving your tour

You can request a tour directly through our website by using the Book Now, Tour Inquiry, or Contact options. Once we receive your request, we will confirm availability, pickup details, pricing, and any important tour information.

Yes. We recommend booking as early as possible, especially during spring, summer, holidays, and peak travel periods. Popular tours such as Grand Canyon, Antelope Canyon, Horseshoe Bend, Zion, and Bryce Canyon can fill up in advance.

Yes. Custom and private itineraries are available depending on your group size, destination, timing, and guide availability. We can help design an itinerary for national parks, scenic drives, photography stops, hiking-focused trips, multi-day tours, or special occasions.

Yes. Multi-day tours may be available for guests who want to explore more of the Southwest without rushing. These can include destinations such as the Grand Canyon, Page, Antelope Canyon, Horseshoe Bend, Zion, Bryce Canyon, Monument Valley, Death Valley, and other regional highlights.

Please contact us for custom multi-day tour options.

Inclusions vary by tour, but many tours include:

  • Professional guide
  • Transportation
  • Hotel pickup and drop-off from select Las Vegas-area hotels
  • Bottled water
  • National park or destination entrance fees when listed
  • Scenic stops along the route
  • Time to explore major viewpoints and attractions

Please review the individual tour page for the exact inclusions.

Unless specifically stated on the tour page, meals, guide gratuity, optional activities, personal expenses, and some attraction add-ons may not be included.

For tours involving Antelope Canyon or other specialty attractions, certain admission or guide fees may vary depending on availability, season, and selected tour option.

Meals are not always included unless specifically listed on the tour page. Many tours include stops where guests can purchase food, snacks, or drinks.

We recommend bringing snacks, especially for longer tour days or early departures.

Deposit and payment requirements may vary depending on the tour type, group size, and whether the tour is private or custom. Final payment details will be confirmed at the time of booking.

Pickup & Transportation

Getting on the road

Pickup is available from select Las Vegas-area hotels or designated nearby meeting points. To keep the tour running smoothly and reduce long pickup windows, we may assign a nearby pickup location instead of picking up directly at every hotel.

Exact pickup details will be sent before your tour.

Departure times vary by tour and season. Many full-day tours leave early in the morning to allow enough time for driving, sightseeing, and park exploration.

Grand Canyon, Antelope Canyon, Horseshoe Bend, Zion, Bryce Canyon, and Death Valley tours may require early departures due to distance and daylight.

Vehicle type may vary depending on group size and tour type. Our goal is to provide comfortable transportation appropriate for the route, weather, and number of guests.

Small-group tours are designed to feel more personal and flexible than large motorcoach tours.

Tour length depends on the destination.

Grand Canyon, Antelope Canyon, Horseshoe Bend, Death Valley, Zion, and Bryce Canyon are full-day or long-day tours from Las Vegas. Some tours may last 10–15 hours depending on the route, traffic, weather, and time spent at each stop.

Multi-day and private tours vary based on the itinerary.

Yes. Tours include planned restroom stops throughout the day. Because some destinations are remote, restroom availability may be limited in certain areas, but your guide will plan stops along the route whenever possible.

Tour Experience

What the day feels like

Walking varies by tour. Many stops involve short walks to viewpoints, visitor centers, overlooks, or scenic areas. Some tours may include optional light hiking depending on the destination and group interest.

Most standard tours are designed for sightseeing rather than strenuous hiking. If you want a more active hiking-focused experience, a private tour may be the best option.

Most tours require guests to be able to enter and exit the vehicle, walk short distances, and stand at viewpoints. Some destinations have uneven terrain, stairs, gravel paths, elevation changes, or extreme temperatures.

If you have mobility concerns, please contact us before booking so we can help determine the best tour option.

Accessibility varies by tour, vehicle, and destination. Some national park viewpoints are accessible, while other stops may have uneven terrain, stairs, sand, or limited facilities.

Please contact us before booking if you or someone in your group uses a wheelchair, walker, or mobility device.

Luggage space is limited and depends on the vehicle and group size. For most day tours, we recommend bringing only a small day bag.

If you are booking a private or multi-day tour and need luggage space, please let us know in advance.

Yes. Cameras and phones are encouraged. Many of our tours include excellent photo opportunities, including canyon viewpoints, desert landscapes, Route 66 stops, national parks, and scenic overlooks.

For Antelope Canyon or other guided slot canyon experiences, camera rules may vary by operator or location.

Guides are often happy to help take photos when time and conditions allow. However, photo assistance is not guaranteed and may depend on safety, timing, and group needs.

Weather & What To Bring

Come prepared for the desert

We recommend bringing:

  • Comfortable walking shoes
  • Weather-appropriate clothing
  • Sunglasses
  • Hat
  • Sunscreen
  • Camera or phone
  • Snacks
  • Refillable water bottle
  • Small day bag
  • Government-issued ID
  • Any personal medications

For colder months or high-elevation destinations, bring warm layers. For summer desert tours, bring sun protection and lightweight clothing.

Wear comfortable clothing suitable for the season and destination. Closed-toe shoes are strongly recommended because many stops may include dirt paths, gravel, rocks, sand, or uneven surfaces.

Weather can change quickly in the desert and at higher elevations, so layers are always a good idea.

Bottled water is included on many tours. Even when water is provided, we recommend bringing your own refillable water bottle, especially during warmer months.

Tours generally operate in a variety of weather conditions, but safety is always the priority. Weather, road closures, park alerts, extreme heat, snow, flash flood risk, or other conditions may require itinerary adjustments.

If a tour needs to be changed or canceled due to unsafe conditions, we will communicate with you as soon as possible.

Many tours are available year-round, but availability may depend on destination, road conditions, seasonal hours, weather, and guide availability.

Some parks and attractions may have limited access during certain times of year.

Destination-Specific Questions

Grand Canyon, Page, Death Valley, Zion, Bryce, and more

Yes. We offer Grand Canyon tours from Las Vegas, including options that may include the South Rim, Hoover Dam photo stops, Route 66, and other scenic stops depending on the itinerary.

Time at the Grand Canyon varies by tour, but our goal is to give guests meaningful time to explore the park, enjoy viewpoints, take photos, and experience the canyon without feeling rushed.

Exact timing depends on the specific tour, traffic, weather, and park conditions.

Some tours include a Hoover Dam photo stop or visit, depending on the itinerary. Please review the specific tour page to confirm whether Hoover Dam is included.

Yes. Tours to Page, Arizona may include Antelope Canyon, Horseshoe Bend, Lake Powell viewpoints, and other regional highlights depending on the selected itinerary and availability.

Antelope Canyon access is controlled by local tour operators and may require specific timed reservations.

Yes. Death Valley tours may include highlights such as Badwater Basin, Zabriskie Point, Artists Palette, Mesquite Flat Sand Dunes, Dante’s View, Furnace Creek, and other scenic stops depending on weather, road conditions, and timing.

Yes. Zion and Bryce Canyon tours may be available as full-day, private, or multi-day itineraries. Because these destinations involve longer drive times from Las Vegas, private or multi-day options may provide the best experience.

Safety & Policies

Important things to know

Entrance fees are included on some tours when listed in the tour details. Please review the specific tour page or booking confirmation to see what is included.

Pets are not allowed on standard group tours, with the exception of qualified service animals as required by law. Please contact us before booking if you plan to travel with a service animal so we can review the itinerary and destination rules.

Yes. Itineraries may change due to weather, traffic, road closures, park conditions, attraction availability, safety concerns, or timing. Your guide will do their best to provide the best possible experience while keeping the day safe and enjoyable.

Cancellation policies may vary depending on the tour type, group size, private booking, destination, and third-party attraction reservations.

Please refer to your booking confirmation for the exact cancellation terms, or contact us before booking if you have questions.

Tours operate on a schedule and may not be able to wait for late guests. Please arrive at your confirmed pickup location early and be ready at the scheduled time.

If you are running late, contact us immediately.

Gratuity is not required, but it is greatly appreciated if your guide provides a great experience. A common guideline is 10–20% of the tour price, depending on the length of the tour and your experience.
